meg rohrer (founder + co-director)

i am a deeply curious soul dedicated to uplifting and restoring through mindful movement guided by breath.

while living in new orleans in my early 20s, i quickly felt the profound benefits of a consistent practice. i completed the first of many trainings in 2010 in montreal with dina tsouluhas, britton darby, and guillaume brun of modo yoga international. since, i’ve been fortunate to study and guide yoga in diverse environments around the world, most recently studyingn with schuyler grant and jason crandell.

in april 2016, i founded supta, where I continue to immerse myself in this transformative discipline.

paul bruno

paul has been a practicing yoga student for close to thirty years and has been teaching for fifteen. his vinyasa style has been heavily influenced by erich schiffmann and the founding members of sacred movement. his yin teachings come directly from paul grilley, the central figure around which yin yoga spirals.

paul’s yin and vinyasa class revolves around the idea that muscle isn’t the only tissue that needs training, that connective tissue health is as important as muscle health, and that strength and elasticity of muscle tissue, as well as, flexibility at joint level are of equal importance.

paul has lived most of his life on nantucket. his favorite color is grey.

evie-marie o’connor

hi im evie ! I have spent the last twelve years in service to the alchemy of love through various roles and offerings that continue to emerge and evolve as my personal path does the same. I believe deeply in the possibility of healing of all for all, with no symptom and no human excluded from this innate process that wants to happen through us. my classes at supta weave yoga and breathwork with intuitive movement and meditation with the overarching intention to invoke the sacred within and throughout.

betty dupont

over the last 27 years, betty dupont has dedicated herself to serving the nantucket community through manual physical therapy techniques like muscle energy methods, craniosacral therapy, and joint mobilizations. The trajectory of her practice took an unexpected turn during the 2020 pandemic, granting her the time to delve into a new and unfamiliar realm that prompted her to question long-held beliefs.

betty's introduction to somatics occurred when a friend and patient grappling with persistent low back pain sought alternatives after exhausting traditional treatments. despite trying manual pt, injections, and conventional exercises, her friend's condition didn't improve. facing the prospect of a spinal fusion, she stumbled upon essential somatics, a body of work developed by thomas hanna, at a yoga festival. this series of exercises aims to reconnect the nervous system and brain with muscles and joints. such connections can be disrupted by injuries, surgeries, and trauma, leading to the body getting stuck in reflex patterns that traditional methods cannot address.

surprisingly, after five months of practicing somatics, betty encountered her friend running past her on the bike path. this success story prompted betty to dive deep into somatics over the past two years, ultimately becoming a certified essential somatics instructor. she is also in the process of completing her clinical somatics certification training, which will take another 2.5 years.

impressed by the effectiveness of somatics with her patients, betty has phased out her manual practice and now focuses on teaching group and individual somatic sessions. she looks forward to guiding others on their journey toward a more active, pain-free life. betty dupont is eager to help you embark on this new and transformative experience.

chip davis

chip recently earned his 200hr teacher certification and has just begun his journey as a yoga instructor teaching our gentle men's yoga class. chip is not new to nantucket or to education though. he is an island native and has been teaching 8th grade english at the cyrus peirce middle school for the past 20 years.

before embarking on his teaching career, chip traveled the globe following one of his many passions, surfing. he's been surfing in hawaii, fiji, new zealand, australia, indonesia, ireland, france, spain, and portugal. chip enjoys the waves of nantucket year round and shares his passion with others during the summer months by giving surf lessons.

chip also loves to read, play guitar, and garden.

liz finlay

liz finlay began her journey in somatic movement in 2020 taking a fundamentals course with betty. building upon her passion for the mind-body connection, liz has since immersed herself in continuous learning, completing a second fundamentals course, participating in four enriching somatics retreats, and ultimately earning her essential somatics® movement teacher certification.

shortly after receiving her bachelor’s degree in psychology from UVM, liz moved to nantucket and has lived on the island for almost 30 years. she and her husband john have three children, all nantucket natives. she has been involved in several organizations on the island over the years serving on boards or volunteering and believes somatics is another way to help people. while liz remains an active real estate broker at great point properties, she is thrilled to be a part of surfside somatics.
